Looked into this and found the following issues about it:

 - https://github.com/rfjakob/gocryptfs/issues/666
 - https://github.com/jacobsa/crypto/issues/13

There is a fix posted by GitHub user piggynl:

 - https://github.com/jacobsa/crypto/pull/14

I will try to integrate it as a patch & submit to Buildroot.
